Buttons - You ideas

This time we're renting a machine. :3 So we can't punch and experiment without awkward hassle.

Anyway, 1 inch buttons. Post your ideas of what you want.

-Pokeball buttons
-buttons with characters smushed against glass
-Simple faces
-Faces that interact with each other. (ex. - 3- <_<; )
-mood bubbles (like on gaia)
-Witty sayings (Oh snap, son!, OMGLOLWTFBBQ!!!)

We should have a cat collection with all of the different cats from animes and video games and stuff. I can already think of three right off the top of my head: Mao from Darker than Black, Nyanko-Sensei from Natsume Yuujinchou, and Kuro Neko from Trigun.
And they can just be cat faces. We could do that with other animals as well, like a wolf collection and it can have Amaterasu and wolf Link, ect.

A collection will encourage people to buy more than one!

Oh and we must have a button with chickens, and it can have cuckoos from Legend of Zelda and Prussia with his chicks.

'Nother idea! I'm just full of good ideas today. We can have buttons with all the different currency from stuff on them, like rupees from LoZ, and those beri or whatever they're called from One Piece, and Pokedollars. It can have the actual money itself or just the symbol for it. Yeah!

Remember: We're trying to make the most sells as possible. What does that mean? We need to do more "mainstream" ideas. We have to do stuff that the public are interested in, not our own individual interests.

I'd say no to Darker than Black or Natsume Yuujinchou themes... they're more "cult favorites" than "mainstream"

You'd be surprised by who'd know Darker than Black. Maybe a few buttons of something iconic?

Player Pins from TWEWY are popular. Kingdom hearts, final fantasy, wolf rain, kuroshitsuji, shugo chara, bleach, naruto. All things we need to adhear to in some way or another.

But a few "none mainstream" things would be nice to see, especially for old school people. Nestolgia is the key.

Alright... but remember that a "few" takes up less than half of our entire inventory.

I've seen "a few" turn into majority of our invo, and that's not good.

Also, if it's not something mainstream then everyone who knows it is likely to buy it since they won't get as much selection to begin with. If it is mainstream, they have way more options with who they buy from because everyone will have something of it.
Plus, even if people don't know it's actually from something doesn't mean they won't buy it. If it has a cute cat face on it, anyone who likes cats will like it, whether or not they know the character.

And just because Jackie makes some buttons with non-mainstream stuff on them, doesn't mean you have to do only non-mainstream stuff too, Geoffrey Siu. You can make your entire merchandise selection only mainstream stuff if you wanted to.

Anyway, we can make buttons one of two ways:

1. Make a few designs and mass produce them.

2. Have a massive amount of designs, and only 2 or 3 of them.

I vote for the latter (AKA number 2) because then we can express ourselves or whatever and get a big selection out. Plus, if we don't sell it all, at least we can pick something we like (for a price) and it's not all the damn same. :3

Yea. I think the latter idea is the better one to do. The only problem we shall run into is if people really want ONE design. ^^; but I guess they just have to suck it up. xD

*nodnod* I kinda like the latter, but I think that we should rent the button maker through Kon, find what designs are popular,and mass produce. 'Sides. I'm more than likely renting a room again, and hopefully, by this time, I'll have worked enough to be able to have enough spending money and rent my own room, so yeah. We can button-make until odd hours of the night. Haha.

Reyna, we have to rent it. Unless someone is willing to buy us one of those nifty 400 dollar machines.

Anyway all products are kept at the table, under the table, in the backs of the wire cubes. We'll just throw a giant cloth over the display so we don't have to come extremely early just to put it up.

Anyway, I think it's a good idea to print extras, but I'm not sure if we can keep the button machine that long. People rent it by the days, and if we keep it for Friday and Saturday, that's two days, and we need it on Wensday and Thursday so we can actually punch out everything. So that's 4 days, and I assume it's like 20-30 dollars a day, so that's already almost 100 dollars or more. And supplies will cost extra. So I think we should plan out how many buttons we're punching before we rent it several extra days. [Especially with all the other shit we have going on. Nyee. D;]

I'd say make maybe 3 of each design, and sell.

Tally up which sold how much, and then maybe make 5-10 more of those.

We could take a poll on Gaia or some other site. They could help us choose designs that appeal to them, so that it'll paint a picture of what we should aim for.

And then there's just the convention forum on Gaia you can ask there. But Hawaii vs. Mainland has different tastes. o_o;; It's kinda weird. Like Persona is still pretty big there, but here only a couple of people know about it. Odd.

And way back there I said selection, not section, as in he can select non-obscure anime to make stuff of. :D
I don't see why we couldn't have an average amount of button designs with an average amount of each to sell. But if we have to choose one of those extremes, then yeah I agree with number two, better to have a vast selection than hardly any at all. The amount of buttons we had for each design last year seemed to be good, but if our buttons are higher quality this year then we should make more of each design than we did last year.

Because I'm not made of money. You know what, I'm not going to pay for the button. Maria, you can pay for the buttons this year.

Actually buttons and prints may be expensive as is. Shirts is something I do with my dad and his friend so I don't have money issues until after con. But since you two need more help with money until we can pay you back after con, Reyna, Summer, and Lei will help out with the funds for prints and buttons. This is not a suggestion, this is something I need to tell people in an announcement. Anyway.
