Otakus at Kon

Hey. Hey! ...HAAAYYY!!!!!!

Lookie! So, we should make an effort to cosplay this year, not just a few members. We should do this AS A CLUB, what do you think? I mean, Cosplay/Lolita is an Otaku thing, and since we're Otakus United, I think it's high time we organize a cosplay mission!!!

We all know last year's kon was an almost epic fail for our club, seeing as people didn't wanna come to kon and those who did either helped at the table, left their stuff for us to watch, or annoyed the crap out of us. Besides Dango! and Maria and her sister, and Steph o' course, no one really cosplayed or dressed up. -.-; And a lot of us planned to do it, but couldn't find time to actually pull something together.

So, my suggestion is. Cosplay as a group. That way, if one of us does, we won't feel awkward hanging out with peole who haven't.

Note: Kon is during Prom this year, and yeah yeah, I know the Juniors minus Dango! are gonna go (YOU BETTER GO, JACKIE. PROM IS...SPECIAL. We can leave it to the Sophomores to run things. Like Summer and Steph. If I don't take Jeremy, you're my date).

So, possible themes for cosplaying this year:

We don't have to cosplay together, but if you're looking for ideas...

~Manga/Anime Characters/Monsters [i.e. Near from DN, Tohru from FB, Italy from Hetalia, Kyo's Hidden Form from FB, or like, random Anthro.]
~Video Game Characters/Monsters [i.e. Vincent Valentine from FF whatever number he's in, a random Chocobo, or a Pokemon Gijinka]
~An OC [Most of you who RP should know what this is, but for those of you who don't, it's a character you design on your own and bring to life.]

Soo~ Yeah. Post your ideas to the cosplay faction and we'll see if we can set something up before October and get started during that time. Maybe we can even schedule sewing/working sessions during the breaks if Masaki-san lets us? X3

I'd be down for doing an OC or cosplaying as a character from something I find hilarious (Venture Brothers, perhaps? I almost went as The Monarch or Dean Venture last halloween but did an OC supervillain instead as part of a group theme.).

And hey, last Kon I went as an OC zombie for the walk. Kinda lame costume, but I went and did it. I loled because I went barefoot and poured food dye on myself in the bathroom leaving dripping "bloodstains" for a while when I walked. Then I was pink for weeks.

I was thinking of presenting this idea later. :3 But I'm already kinda packed on cosplays for next year. D; I'm in 3 other groups... but I'm sure I can make another. Let's see...

-Yumigami from Okami (I'm not even sure if this group is still going... ._. But I'm 99% done and I just need a way to sneak in my hammer for the photoshoot.) 99%

-Leaefeon Gijinka from Pokemon (I've got 2 pieces of clothes, I need 2 more, I need to get my wig and sharpie dye it, and all my props and ears/tail are made out of real leaves so I have to wait until con to actually get those done.) 20%

-Amulet Spade from Shugo Chara (Wtf, this is was one of my initial planned cosplays, and I don't have ANYTHING for it. D: Well, maybe the wig if I plan to actually go WITH a wig.) 0-1% ;-;

So, now to think of some really cool cosplays for a group to do... that no one in KK is already planned (which is really really hard...)

-Kingdom Hearts (though no one has planned a group, there will ALWAYS be a group cosplaying this)

-Ouran (see above for KH description)

-Final Fantasy (Pick one of them? XD We better start early since those costume are intracate as fuck. But so damn beautiful.)

-HETALIA. FREAKING HETALIA. Easy costumes, mostly easy wigs, and the series is fucking lulz. If we do Hetalia, I call Russia. >>'

-Valkyria Chronicles is something I'd aim for. Costumes are a bit harder than normal.

Also, no. O: I am not going to Prom. I'm going to con. If they happen to land on the same weekend, that is. My mind's made up. Besides, if I do find someone I like and they want to go to prom, I'll ask them why they want to spend so much money on one night that'll make me more miserable than I need to be than take me to KK and we can rave our asses off for free. Bleh, anyway. Thread and continue now. xD

I think I've got my costumes for this year, or, what I want at least...XP I dunno if I can do, though. Need a job. Gotta get a job. And Prom dress is coming from ROSS AGAIN~:3

My leafeon is basically done. I just need to go outside and pick a few leaves and make them into ears and a tail and I'm good to go. xD

So should our club's "group cosplay" be Hetalia? [Must go work on my Russia if that's the case.]

Alright. There's already another group doing Hetalia, so when we run around we can jump them. xDD

Umm, I'll wear this one one whatever day I'm doing my Yumigami. Mostly because I'm not sure what the hell is going on with that group. o_o;; Like I haven't heard from that girl in a while.

XP Ours'll be cooler. 'cause we're all young and stuff. XD

I'm thinking like...Saturday? 'Cause that's prolly the day we'll all be able to go. I'm only staying for the first half of the day or whatever. Maybe until 2, then I'll go get ready for Prom. .__.; Why didn't they plan prom for later? >: And Prom is big...for me at least. It's our one dance of the year.

Oh no.. I can't do it Saturday. ._. That's the day I'm doing my Leafeon which is my baby at the moment. Friday is my Shugo Chara. So Sunday is the only day I can wear my Russia. D; Unless I switch costumes which I will probably will if it comes down to that.

Also, Prom isn't A-OKed yet, so you never know.

Meh, true, true. I really want to do Kabegami or Nuregami, and whichever it comes down to...mrawr. I'll do that for Friday. And then Saturday looks like my Gardevoir day, and so...Hetalia Sunday? :3 That sounds good to me.

Mhmm. But honestly since Russia is only a coat, I can wear my coat over my Leafeon and run around. xD Since my leafeon wig = russia wig. Yosh, win.

Oh damn. I may actually try to cosplay as a Hetalia character... I'll try and find one I can most easily look like, heh.

I totally read most of the scans last night, and realized I have some work to do. I'm looking at one of the side-characters no one takes, like General Winter or Grandpa Rome.

Rome Ojii-san! XDDD Either would be kick ass!

If you're General Winter, I'll be Russia. So that'd make for a somewhat lulz or emo picture.

I do have an old Greatcoat, but I think General winter wears more of a cloak. I'll look into it though, since Russia + Winter = lulz.

ARGH. Speaking of reference pictures and clothing, I suddenly have hate for Russia. >_>;;

1. The artist keeps messing with the location of the parting of Russia's overcoat. It's in the middle, off to the right, and then ALL the way to the right. Argh, Russia, Imma smack you.

2. I hope Goodwill has coats. .-. Cause I really really don't want to get a pattern and make a freaking overcoat. Why? Because I hate patterns and I think that it's be a lot easier if I just found a coat and stuck to it. >_>;;

3. I ordered my Russia wig. :3 Well, it doubles as my Leafeon wig, but bleh. It's not as light as I'd like for Russia's hair to be (freaking anime made it light gray-yellow, wtf). And I got hair glue/got2b freeze spray. So I can style it kinda. Too bad Russia doesn't have any curls. It's be super cute to do. D;

Oh man, Russia is like the most manic country in that comic. I'll definitely look around Goodwill and see if they have any interesting coats. Of course, they might also be for another cosplay.

If you go to Goodwill and see a coat perfect-ish for Russia (like a plain beige coat with one fold slightly to the right or down the middle) wanna get it for me if you have enough time? D; I'll pay you back at school, but I'm not allowed to go to thrift stores like Goodwill at my house, so it's really hard to shop there...

I need to pester Maria to join in with a country. Her sister was... Switzerland I believe, but that was last Kon.

Anyway, Kawaii-Kon has another group of Hetalia cosplayers. So if we're there on whatever day their photoshoot is, I said we'd come by. >>;; But you don't have to if you don't want to. The groups pretty nice so far. Germany, Chibitalia, all the Asian countries except Vietnam, etc etc.

And yeah, her sister was a kick ass Switzerland. She just needed the gun and she'd be done. Maybe she'll be Switzerland again? It was really good.
